“الكائن العجيب” (The Strange Creature) is a lighthearted, engaging children’s picture book about difference, acceptance, and hygiene. When a strange, furry creature from space lands in a school playground, the children are both curious and surprised. Unlike any human—short, covered in thick hair, and undeniably cute—this friendly visitor is eager to learn but has one little problem: it smells! Through playful and humorous moments, the children teach the creature how to take care of its hygiene, bathe properly with soap and a loofah, and wear clean clothes and socks. The illustrations are vibrant and full of energy, with bright colors, rich textures, and dynamic compositions. With exaggerated features and a whimsical touch, the artwork enhances the story, making it an entertaining read for young audiences.

I especially enjoyed illustrating this book. Beyond bringing the strange creature to life, the story’s approach to hygiene makes it easier to introduce the topic to both children and adults alike without anyone feeling called out. It serves as a great reminder of how valuable children’s books can be in sparking important, light-hearted conversations.
